Year 10 Alternate Program

Year 10 “Clueless” Program- Dec 1-4

December 1st saw the commencement of the Year 10 “Clueless” program which aims to prepare Year 10 students for the transition into Years 11 and 12. Since its introduction in 2002, “Clueless” has evolved into a dynamic program whose structure aims to equip students with practical strategies to meet the changing demands of senior studies while at the same time stressing the importance of creating a balance between study, part time work and healthy leisure activities.

The program began with a plenary session where Year 11 students shared their experiences and wisdom about life in the senior school. Across the next few days, the students moved through six workshops: Stress Management, Time Management, Becoming better readers, techno heads, Becoming Independent learners and Plagiarism (including BOS “All my own work” modules). Each day finished with students participating in a range of leisure activities which included: Christmas cooking and craft, Salsa and Flamenco dancing, Photography, Theatre Sports, Yoga, Cheerleading, Different sporting activities, Making cosmetics, Indian, Lebanese and Italian cooking and Making a Christmas CD.

The Year 10 students involved themselves wholeheartedly in the program and it is hoped that they will draw upon their new found knowledge and strategies as they tackle the challenges of senior school.

The program would not have been possible if not for the dedication and commitment of large numbers of teachers who volunteered to facilitate workshops and leisure activities during what was a very busy time of year. Their efforts were greatly appreciated by the students.
