Overview - English
‘Language shapes our understanding of ourselves and our world, and is the primary means by which we relate to others.’(English: Years 7-10 Syllabus, Board of Studies, October 2002)
Our 7-10 courses in English work to develop the language skills of our students to help them in the relationships they build with others at Cerdon and in their lives outside the college.
‘Proficiency in English enables students to take their place as confident, articulate communicators, critical and imaginative thinkers and active participants in society.’ (English: Stage 6 Syllabus, Board of Studies, 1999).
To this end, in Stage 6 Cerdon offers a wide range of courses from the 2 unit Advanced and Standard English courses to the 1 unit Extension and Fundamentals courses. We want our students to gain the skills to allow them to communicate their ideas clearly, think deeply about issues, be critical and articulate participants in the society they will help to build.
Students will also have the opportunity to view and participate in a variety of Live Performance experiences over Years 7-12 |
