Open Recess and Lunch everyday

The Library is the central resource provider for staff and students. We aim to provide resources that will enrich, extend and support the total school curriculum, taking into account the varied interests, abilities, skills and maturity levels of the students.

It is also a recreational and reference centre for the school, placing an additional emphasis on equipping students through resource-based learning programs with adequate skills for life-long learning in an information rich world.

Borrowing

Students may borrow up to 4 items at once.

The borrowing period varies up to a maximum of 2 weeks. A fine of 20c per day is charged for overdue items. Items may be renewed if they have not been reserved by others.  

Library Cards

All students must be in possession of photo ID cards for borrowing, printing, and photocopying. Cards are only issued to Year 7 and newly arrived students in other years. Students are responsible for their cards and replacement cost is $7. 

Computer Network

There are 20 networked computers available for student use. Students need to know their individual user name and password to log on to any computer within the school. Two fully equipped Compauter Labs are also

 Access to word processing, many CD-ROMs, e.g., Sydney Morning Herald and encyclopedias and the Internet is possible.  

Students may use the library computers before school, recess, and lunchtime and lessons that are booked by the teacher. . Booking at the circulation desk is essential. This also applies to senior students during their study periods when computers are available.  

Oliver Enquiry and a number of CD-ROMs are also available on the school network.  

Photocopying and Printing

Printing ( including colour) is available from the computers through a product called PaperCut. Credit is topped up through the student account. Students must have ID cards to access colour printed material. There are 2 photocopiers in the library for student use.  

Costs for copying : Black & White - 10c per page       Colour - A4 Page $1.00, A3 Page $1.50 

Electronic Resources

These resources as well as Online Databases are available on the school network. Students may use them when researching in the library or other areas of the school.

Senior Study

Senior students are welcome and encouraged to use the Library during study periods. Library staff are available to Senior students for help in information access. They have an allocated area that has access to computers that are to used for study purposes only.

Students are to sign in at the front desk at beginning of each period, and are to respect the study needs of other seniors as well as junior students.
