Opening Mass

On the 11th February 2009 the Cerdon Community gathered at Our Lady of Victories Church, Horsley Park for a wonderful Eucharistic Celebration. Our Mass primarily focused on service and leadership, however, the symbol of God’s Rainbow as a ‘Sign of hope for tomorrow’ permeated through the whole celebration.     Rainbow altar

The rainbow consists of colours that are diverse and splendid, yet these colours are complimentary and come together as one. We took the colours of the rainbow as a symbol of our college, each colour representing a different Year Group. At the beginning ofthe Mass pieces of coloured material were brought forward to represent each cohort of our college community and colour by colour  we created a beautiful rainbow on the front of the altar.

Senior StudentsSome senior students acted out a story about how once upon a time all the colours of the rainbow started to quarrel; each claiming that she was the most important, the most useful, the favourite. Then one day the rain came tumbling down on all the colours and said “You foolish colours, fighting to dominate the rest. Do you not know that God made you all ? Each for a special purpose, unique and different. He loves you all. He will stretch you across the sky in a great bow of colour, as a reminder that he loves you all, that you can live together in peace – a promise that he is with you – a sign of hope for tomorrow.”

The college community then made a commitment to promote peace and harmony in within our Marist Community which has Christ as its centre and Mary as its model.

The newly elected Class Captains, Vice Captains, Mission Promoters, Prefects, SCR leaders, Social Justice Group leaders and Library Monitors were presented with their badges as a symbol of their leadership role within the College. The House Staff Mentors were also commissioned in their role. HSC Achievers

A new addition to our liturgy this year was to highlight and celebrate the 2008 HSC achievements. The top achievers from 2008 were welcomed back and acknowledged in front of the whole college community, a well deserved and proud moment for all concerned.

Father Paul Roberts, Parish Priest at Holy Trinity Parish Granville was the celebrant and he is to be congratulated on the wonderful way he engaged everyone and left us all with an uplifting feeling.
