Sporting Opportunities at Cerdon College

Aquathon - The Aquathon Carnival is held in Term 4 each year and involves a running and swimming component. Students can choose to work in pairs (either run or swim) or as an individual to complete each race. Year 9 Physical Activity and Sport Studies classes contribute to the organisation of the event which is held at Parramatta Park and Pool each year.

Senior Girls Basketball - There exists much interest in playing basketball at Cerdon from years 7 to 12.
The Senior team has two main opprtunities to represent the college during the year. The first Tourament is at the Sutherland Stadium in May.This is an all schools competition.
Schools were divided into A and B divisions each consisting of eight teams.
The second opportunity is the Secondary College Competition at Bankstown Stadium.
We expect to continue to field strong teams and are working towards greater success in the near future.

CGSSSA Dance -  Cerdon’s most talented dancers are able to audition for a place to work in a group to compete at the CGSSA Dance competition. A range of categories of dance is offered including: Aerobics (novice and advanced), Jazz, Tap and Folk dance. Cerdon enters students into different categories each year depending on student interest.

Jump Rope for Heart - Each year, students from Year 8 participate in Jump Rope for Heart to raise money for the National Heart Foundation.  Students work hard to develop their skipping skills during PE lessons before the Jump Off and aim to collect as many sponsors and donationsas possible. Students participate in a fun-filled, energetic afternoon of skipping on the day of the Jump Off. A range of skills, including Double Dutch and the Pretzel are performed and prizes are given out to the best skippers on the day. Students are always excited to find out how much money their year group has raised for the National Heart Foundation.

Table Tennis - The Cerdon College Table Tennis Club meets every Thursday at lunchtime in Chavoin Hall throughout terms 1 and 2. The best players enter the State Schoolgirls' Table Tennis Championships held each year in May. Table tennis is a sport that most people can play. The school has 4 tables and we play both singles and doubles. Table Tennis Club is a great way to hone your hand/eye coordination skills.and get to know other students in an informal and non-challenging environment.

Triathlon - Triathlon is held in March each year at the Regatta Sport Centre in Penrith. Students can choose to work in teams – with one student completing each leg of the race (swim, bike or run). Students who are extremely fit can elect to complete the whole course on their own. This exciting event provides students with the opportunity to work as a team and helps students develop their fitness prior to the event.
